Jack Healey Commentary May 29th, 2019

Former Rutland High football standout Kyle Kelly who was a member of the Vermont Shrine football team in 2012 has accepted a full time position as a team operations assistant with the Detroit Lions. Kyle had been an intern with the Cleveland Browns.
Kyle has already started his job and tomorrow he will be travelling to scope out some facilities and lodging for some pre-season events.
Also Rutland High grad John Carpenter, an equipment manager at Stony Brook University on Long Island will be heading to the Baton Rouge Regional in the NCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament. Stony Brook is the America East Champion.
The Baton Rouge Regional has LSU as the #1 seed, Arizona State the #2 seed, Southern Miss the #3 seed and Stony Brook at #4. Stony Brook will play LSU on Friday night at 7 on ESPNU.
Castleton University baseball standout junior Davis Mikell has been named a D3baseball.com 2nd team All American. The CVU grad out of Williston led the Little East Conference with a .446 batting average which was #11 in the nation.
Mikell is the first Castleton baseball player to be named as an All-American.
Yesterday I mentioned that the late Bill Buckner had more career hits than Ted Williams and that is true, but I should point out that Williams did miss about five seasons in his prime for military service.
