Jack Healey Commentary August 15th, 2017

The Red Sox’ Friday night loss could be the worst loss of the year, but Sunday night’s win could be the best win of the season for the Sox.

So much for momentum. Again why do people keep talking about it? I do because people keep talking about it and it’s ridiculous! The Yankees supposedly had momentum after Friday night’s win, but lost the next game. The Red Sox got momentum after Saturday’s win, but were losing in the 9th inning on Sunday night.

How often does a team have a big series against its closest competitor and then lose the next game so part of the great work is wasted. That happened to the Red Sox yesterday as the Sox lost and the Yankees won. So that erases the great game the Sox played on Sunday to a certain extent.

As I said momentum doesn’t mean crap!

I don’t know about you, but talk about Rookie of the Year, MVP, Cy Young etc. might be fun, but to me it doesn’t mean anything until the World Series is over. The ultimate goal is winning the World Series. If you win the Series any individual award is gravy and if you don’t then to me it’s a consolation prize. Yes its nice if a player you root for wins an individual award, but if he doesn’t who really cares? I don’t! it’s about the World Series!
